The Gourmet’s Market is a culinary shopping institution in the Bearden district of Knoxville, and was in desperate need of a flexible, expanded seating area to accommodate their growing dining crowd. In addition to accommodating more patrons they also wanted to offer an omelet bar which could also be used for occasional cooking demonstrations. Studio Four Design’s challenge was to seamlessly tie together the exterior dining patio with an interior addition.
Using simple finishes and materials, such as overhead glass garage doors, the new addition can be opened to the covered exterior patio during nice weather. Plywood laminated walls and stained concrete floors add warmth to what was formerly a family steak house while also keeping an eye on a modest budget.
