When we engaged the PhiMu Sorority they had already done a lot of homework on their vision. They discussed not only the program of spaces and activities for the house, but also shared a collection of images of the Federal style house they hoped to create.
Taking cues from the site, we created a U-shaped building that provided a semiprivate outdoor space for larger functions. Design details echoed the proportion and scale of the Federal style. The main level is primarily public with entry foyer, TV room, Conference room, Parlor, Dining Room and house mother’s suite. The second floor is dedicated as the sleeping floor with 2 person bedrooms sharing a spa-like club bath near the center of the house.
